Telangana Forest officials have registered a case after a viral video showed a Palapitta (Indian Roller) being released from a cage and handed to TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, who released it at a Dussehra event in Uppal, Hyderabad. The Forest Department filed charges under the Wildlife Protection Act and is investigating the incident.
