During the 'A Date with China · Meet Guangdong' media tour in Shenzhen, foreign journalists and experts visited Futian Mangrove Ecological Park to study China's mangrove conservation and restoration practices. Experts highlighted mangroves' coastal protection roles and noted Guangdong hosts about 40 percent of China’s mangroves under a 2020-25 plan to create 5,500 hectares and restore 2,500 hectares.
