Psychologists from SWPS and Jagiellonian universities found that self-compassion and mindfulness can reduce severity and functional impact of PMS and PMDD. In a study of 228 women aged 18 to 52, higher mindfulness, self-kindness, and sense of coherence moderated effects of stress and trauma on premenstrual symptoms, suggesting potential for therapy programs that complement or reduce medication use.
