Sikkim recently hosted its first ever Himalayan Yak Festival in Gnathang, celebrating traditional livelihoods and high altitude ecosystems. Organised by the Animal Husbandry and Livestock Services Department, the lively event showcased unique yak products from Sikkim and Ladakh alongside traditional herder huts. Officials highlighted yak conservation, climate challenges, and remote tourism, drawing enthusiastic crowds and dignitaries like Assembly Speaker MN Sherpa for a memorable cultural showcase.
