The Ministry of Environment's empowered committee has recommended dumping 650 MLD of treated industrial wastewater from Surat into the deep sea near the Gulf of Khambhat, with pipelines landing near Danti Village in Navsari and outfalls off Ubharat and Vansi. Onshore pipelines span about 67.5 km and offshore 15 to 17.9 km. Environmentalists and local fisherfolk have criticised the plan.
