Wildlife activists in Telangana warn that Indian Pittas and White-throated Kingfishers are being captured and displayed during Dasara due to their resemblance to Indian Rollers, whose sightings are considered auspicious. Activists urge authorities to monitor social media posts showing captive birds and take enforcement action against those responsible to curb poaching and protect declining populations.
